The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission has done in depth studies of child safety on playgrounds, and has issued an excellent handbook on the subject. This information is a must read for anyone with a playground or who is contemplating building one. Following its guidelines will significantly reduce the incidence of playground injury and will also reduce the related insurance costs. Most states require compliance with them for child care providers.
